Olive M. Askren, 90 of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born in Union, IN on March 19, 1918 to Claude and Bessie (Jones) Deffendall and lived in Gibson County most of her life. She graduated from Francisco High School in 1938. 

Olive is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Lois & Dudley Wright of Princeton; son & daughter-in-law, William D. & Rita Askren of Mt. Vernon; daughter-in-law, Darlene Askren of Mt. Carmel; 12 grandchildren, Becky Peyton, Debbie Hoover, David, Dan, Jim, & Don Wright, Bill Askren Jr., Teresa Miller, Brian & Jerrilynn Askren, Tommy & Johnny Askren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Houchins of Princeton; and an aunt, Catherine Jones of Princeton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Homer Johnson; her husband Owen Ray Askren in 1982; a son Gerald Lee Askren in 2000; and a brother James Edward Deffendall in 1957. 

Funeral services will be held at
10 A.M. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. J. D. Mullins officiating. Burial will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch. Friends may visit Friday from 4 until 8 P.M. at Colvin Funeral Home.
