Dorotha Mae Bodkins age 92 of Somerville , our Mother, Grandmother and friend slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday June 8, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.

 

She joins her husband Orris E. Bodkins, her parents Louis and Sarah Wirth, and her brother and sister-in-law Lilbourne and Mary Wirth. 

Dorotha was born on
Nov. 18, 1915 and graduated from Francisco High School. She married her husband Orris on May 10, 1934 and they shared 62 years of marriage prior to his death in 1996.

 

She was a lifelong member of Forsythe United Methodist Church. She worked for may years at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home where she shared her compassion and sense of humor with those she cared for and worked with. She also managed a restaurant at Five Points, and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital. Dorotha Mae loved her family dearly and nothing meant more than spending time with them. The memory of that love, her smile and sense of humor will provide wonderful memories for us to cherish.

Dorotha Mae was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by the following survivors: daughter Sharon (Dennis) Hill of Oakland City and son Larry (Eloise) Bodkins of Jasper, Grandchildren: Tanya (John) McCullough, Oakland City: Cheryl (Chris) Barrett, Evansville; Brian (Lisa) Maikranz, Oakland City; Krista (Jack) Graupner, Evansville: Tricia (Tege) Lewis, Evansville; Brent (Tanya) Bodkins, Jasper, and Amy Bodkins of Evansville. Great Grandchildren: Joshua (Jennifer) Houchin, Jason (Sarah) Barrett, Zach and Christopher Barrett, Bryson, Brayden and Brenna Maikranz, Alexis and Peyton Graupner, and
Dalton Jacob Bodkins. 

Funeral Services will be
10 a.m. CDT Thursday June 12, 2008 at the Corn Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City with the Rev. Leonard Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Forsythe Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. CDT Wednesday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, and from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Brian Maikranz and Brent Bodkins and great grandsons, Joshua Houchin, Zach and Christopher Barrett, Bryson and Braydon Maikranz.
