Purvis Clem, 84, died Monday, April 4, 2005 at his home east of Princeton.

 

He was born Jan. 27, 1921 in Hazelton. 

He lived in
Princeton since 1965, moving there from Oatsville. He had worked as a farmer, and for Lin Gas and Sears, before he retired from Wilder and Sons, in Oakland City, in 1986, after working there for 18 years. 

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the
Wheeling Methodist Church, when he was able, and was a life member of VFW Post 1147, in Princeton, and American Legion Post 25. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Blanche (Whitehouse) Clem; his wife, Luella Mae Clem, in February 1998; and two sisters. 

He is survived by a son, Richard Clem, of
Princeton; a sister-in-law, Marcilyn Marvel, of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be at
11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Mark Fernihough officiating. Burial will be at the Owensville Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home. VFW Post 1147 will conduct military graveside services.
