Harold F. Cross age 87 passed away Sunday February 24, 2008 at his home.

 

Mr. Cross was born September 24, 1920 in Marsh Creek, Kentucky to Elmer and Addie (Meadors) Cross. He had lived in rural Princeton since 1933, moving here from Kentucky

Harold served in the U.S. Marines during W.W.II, serving in
Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. He was awarded two Silver Stars and a Purple Heart for his service. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1147, and enjoyed spending time there. After the military he spent his working life farming the family land in Gibson County

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years Mary Elizabeth “Tootie” (Townsend) Cross in 2005, and a brother Vernon Estes Cross. 

Harold is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Darrell and Carol Cross of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Don and Jody Cross of Bloomington, IN, four grandchildren and their spouses: Darren and Amanda Cross of Raleigh, NC, Julianne and Daniel Kirby of Cary, NC, Sara and Joa Ovin of Malmo, Sweden, and Joseph Cross of Bloomington, IN, and six great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be
11 a.m. Thursday Feb. 28, 2008 at the Fairview Presbyterian Church Community Center with Rev. Tarrell Thompson and Rev. Clay Humphreys officiating.

 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. V.F.W. Post 1147 will conduct military graveside services.
