Cecil Albone Earles, 83, of Princeton, loving husband, father and grandfather, died June 7, 2008 at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN.

 

Born June 6, 1925 in Gibson County, IN to the late James Edgar and Agnes Caroline (Tooley) Earles. 

Cecil was also preceded in death by brothers, Arthur D., James Russel and John Edgar Earles. Cecil was the Captain of his football and basketball teams at Oakland City High School. He was active in Scouts and the church baseball league. Former manager of the Oakland City merchant’s team of the Deer Trail baseball league. A founding member of the Trail Blazer Camping Club. A delegate to Democrat State Convention for many years. Former member of Gibson County tax advisory board. He was a member of the Eagles of Oakland City. Local 808 IUE. A founding member of the Squad Inc. of Oakland City. Board member of Wirth Park and was Oakland City councilman of district 2 for 24 years. He was an avid fisherman. He held many jobs through the years, worked at the Evansville Ship Yards during WW II and retired from Whirlpool in February 1989. 

Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Violet Earles; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Martha Earles of Princeton; Darald Earles of Princeton; David and Oraletta Earles of Petersburg and Mitchell Earles of Oakland City; brothers, Paul Earles of Elnora, IN and George Earles of Pasadena, CA; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at
10 A.M. Wednesday, June 11th at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, with Rev. Terryl Almond officiating.

 

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 P.M. Tuesday June 10th at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City
