Ruth M. (Ice) Tolbert Ellis, 84, of Hazleton, died at 12:20 a.m. Nov. 25, 2005 at Gibson General Hospital, in Princeton.

 

She was born Feb. 18, 1921 in Giro to John W. and Eva Mae (Potts) Ellis. (Ice)

She retired as a foreman in the tasting and adjustment department from Potter & Brumfield in 1985, after working there for over 40 years. She lived most of her life in
Hazleton and attended the Hazleton United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women of the Church and the Mystery Pal Club. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, B.E. (Boots) Tolbert in 1987; a grandson, Michael Fetcher; and brother, Delbert Ice. 

She is survived by her husband, Gene Ellis; daughters, Beverly Belcher of Hazleton and Tammy Fetcher and her Friend Charlie Smith, of Hazleton; sons and their spouses, Mike and Kyle Ellis, and Mark and Lynn Ellis, all of Hazleton, and Marvin Ellis, of Carlisle; a brother, Jim Ice, of Giro; three sisters, Betty Cain, of Princeton, Margie Shouse, of Princeton and Jane Arnold, of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be at
2 p.m. Monday at the Hazleton United Methodist Church, with Ruth's nephew the Rev. Gary Arnold and the Rev. Paul Huntsman officiating. Burial will be in Hazleton Community Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from noon until service time Monday at the church.
