Lawrence Earl Gibbs, 87, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

Lawrence graduated from Princeton High School. June 6, 1942 he married Marjorie Emmalee Dyer, the only child of Carl Heber & Nellie Savanna (Davis) Dyer.

Lawrence worked at Potter & Brumfield, then Electronic Research in Evansville and retired from Princeton Telephone Co. after 30+ years. He is a member of New Life Nazarene Church in Princeton and has been a member of the Nazarene Church since 1945. He has served on church boards at both the Oakland City and Princeton churches. When younger he supervised the Jr. department of Princeton church and taught both the Jr. and Jr. High boys. This was one of the loves of his life. He also loved books and was an avid reader. He served for some years as secretary of the Oakland City Southern Holiness Camp. Several physical problems forced him to be mostly a shut-in for a few years. He still was able to attend the telephone retirees lunch each month with the kindness of a special work friend, Jerry.

He was born on
November 20, 1919 in Owensville to Leonidas & Ella (Hendricks) Gibbs, both deceased. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Marvin Davis.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Gibbs of Princeton; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene & Mary Gibbs; sister, Mary Helen Gerkin; a special niece, Lynn Powell and his feline friend, Ladye Love.
