Harold Dean Hickrod, 83, passed away on Tuesday September 25, 2007 at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton.

 

He was retired from the Princeton Police Department and a former Gibson County Deputy Sheriff. He also was a retired rural mail carrier. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving overseas in England & France for 38 months. He was a member of the Union Bethel Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the VFW #1147, charter member of the D.A.V. and the Fraternal Order of Police, member of the American Legion #25, and a life member of the N.R.A. 

He was born in
Ft. Branch February 1, 1924 where he resided until joining the Army. Upon his return from WWII, he moved to Princeton and resided the remainder of his life.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse & Della F. (Beadle) Hickrod; 3 brothers and 1 sister. 

Dean is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dixie Ann (Coomer) Hickrod of Princeton; daughter & son-in-law, Sandy & Barry Bane of Patoka; son & daughter-in-law, Rick & Kathy Hickrod of Princeton; 5 grandchildren, Justin (Errin) Carr, Brad (Brooke) Bane, Greg (Stacey) Bane, Sarah (Matt) Deputy and Rebekah Hickrod; and 7 great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be held at
10:30 AM on Saturday September 29, 2007 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Ralph Walters and Rev. Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch.

 

Friends may visit from 3 until 8 PM on Friday at the Colvin Funeral Home. VFW Post #1147 will conduct military graveside services.
