Frederick L. "Fred" Hurst, 70 passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the Vista Care Hospice in Evansville, Indiana.

 

He was born in Princeton, IN on July 27, 1935 and was a lifetime resident of Princeton except for 2 years when he lived in Owensville. 

After graduating from
Princeton High School he became a licensed plumbing contractor and worked with his dad. In 1960 Fred joined the Princeton Fire Department and was employed with them for 24 years, serving the last 4 years as the Fire Chief, before retiring in 1984. 

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth K. Hurst Sr. and Katherine (Burton) Hurst Fravel, 2 brothers, Davie Lee Hurst and Jimmie Don Hurst. 

Surviving Fred is his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou (McGillem) Hurst; a daughter & son-in-law, Kathy and Bret Gardner of Owensville; 2 grandchildren, Greg Gardner of Owensville and Andrea Gardner of Princeton; a brother & sister-in-law, Kenneth Jr. & Rachel Hurst of Hazleton; sisters & brother-in-law, Joyce Hurst of Oakland City and Janet & Keith Smith of Princeton; sisters-in-law, Judy McGillem & Guinevere Hurst of Princeton; aunts, an uncle, and several nieces & nephews. 

Funeral services will be held
10 A.M. Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Craig Duke will officiate.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 4 until 8 P.M. on Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Decker Cemetery in Patoka.
