Elizabeth J (Graper) Johnson, 82 took her final motorcycle ride to be with her glorious savior on Friday, October 26, 2007, due to complications from pneumonia.

 

She was born on May 19, 1925, the oldest daughter of Fred & Greeba (Miller) Graper, who preceded her in death.

 

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert W. (Doc) Johnson in 2001. 

Elizabeth is survived by her 2 children, Susie Johnson of Terre Haute, IN and Wayde Johnson of Princeton; her special adopted daughters, Tamara Buck and Shon Lewis both of Princeton; 2 brothers, Robert B. Graper of Danville, IN and Frederick Graper of Cape Girardeau, MO; 1 sister, Kathleen Bonadies of Pinehurst, NC; several nieces and nephews. 

During WWII she became one of "Rosie-The Riveters" at Evansville’s production of P-47 Thunderbolts. Subsequently, she was employed at Shoptaugh Drugs in Princeton. Her main employment was later at Hansen’s Manufacturing Co. for 40+ years, where she became the supervisor of the testing & shipping dept. She considered her co-workers her second family and she retired from Hansen’s in 2005. 

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. 

She enjoyed motorcycle riding and camping with her husband in her younger years. Later on in life, she enjoyed vacationing and sightseeing all over the United States & Canada. She loved traveling to sample the cuisine in new restaurants & eateries that she had read or heard about. She was very creative in making all types of flower arrangements. She liked collecting scarecrows and angels. She enjoyed planting flowers and working outside in her yard. She received great joy feeding & watching the many varieties of birds that flocked to her yard. 

Elizabeth will be sadly missed by all those blessed to know her. She was a very loving, caring and giving mother to her children and her death has caused a gigantic void in the world that can never be filled. Heaven has been blessed to receive a very special angel.

Graveside services celebrating her wonderful life as a sister, wife, mother & friend will be held on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 11:30 AM at the Somerville Cemetery, family and friends may meet at the Colvin Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery.

 

Friends may visit from 4 until 8 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN. 

He family wishes to thank Dr. Bruce Brink Jr., Dr. Titzer, Dr. Pamelia, Dr. Henry and a special thanks to Dr. Houser and the nurses and staff at Gateway Deaconess Hospital for their exemplary, compassionate and loving care the last week of her life.
