Ernest "Ernie" N. Lasley, 59, of Owensville passed away Friday, August 15, 2008 at his home in Owensville. He was born August 15, 1949 in Princeton, IN a son of the late Fred and Lois Scott Lasley

Ernest Noble Lasley, better known as "Ernie" served in the U.S. Army, the Army Reserve, and the Indiana National Guard from 1969 to 1989. He served 18 months in
Vietnam from April 1970 to November 1971. He was awarded a bronze star for Heroism while serving the 1st Cavalry Division during the Cambodian invasion in May 1970. He was an adjutant for the American Legion Post 51, Jr. Vice Commander of the V.F.W. Post 1147, and Gibson County coordinator of cemetery restoration. He was retired from the Patoka Township Fire department as captain and former chief. He was also a former firefighter of the Princeton Fire Department and the Owensville Fire Department. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fire Department Association and the White River Hazelton Fire Department. He was a certified instructor teaching classes in several of the volunteer fire departments. He worked at the Tri State Speedway and loved dirt track racing. During his free time, he loved genealogy and restoration of old cemeteries. He completely restored the Marsh Creek Cemetery. He also loved teaching classes on repairing of broken tombstones. 

He was a hard worker and loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved to watch the grandchildren while playing sports. He was loved and will be missed by all his family. He dearly loved his dog, Misty. 

He is survived by his wife, Connie Cooper Lasley; one son Rodney "Scott" Lasley and wife Paula of Princeton; one daughter Kimberly Lasley of
Mt. Carmel, IL. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, and Alysa Lasley, Kayley Wilkerson, Dakota and Kayce Hutton. One brother, Robert "Bob" Lasley and wife Dee of Princeton; three sisters, Janet and husband Gary Taylor of Indianapolis; Judy and husband Danny Cundiff of Oklahoma; and Carol Jean and husband John Bajzath of Oakland City, IN and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lois (Scott) Lasley, one infant brother Fred Jr., one brother, Donnie Lasley; one sister Linda Lasley Moore and one half sister, Mary Ellen Lasley

Services will be held on
10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Colvin Funeral Home, Princeton, IN with the Rev. Bart Newton officiating. Interment will be in the Columbia "White" Church Cemetery, Princeton, IN with full military rites by Owensville American Legion Post 51 and the Princeton V.F.W. 1147. Friends may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton

Pallbearers will be Scott Lasley, Christopher Lasley, Ryan Lasley, Gary Taylor, Kenny Dillon, Roy Lee Hensley and Dakota Hutton.
