Larry John Elpers, 63, of Haubstadt, IN passed away on Saturday, August 18th, 2007 at the Charlier VNA Hospice Center in Evansville, IN.

 

He was born to the late John and Antoinette (Schenk) Elpers on Feb.3, 1944 in Evansville, IN.

 

He spent his entire career in the construction business. At one time, he co-owned the Poseyville Lumber Co. and Elpers and Neumann Construction Co. He also owned Haubstadt Carpet and Larry John Elpers Construction Co. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, the Haubstadt Chamber of Commerce, and the Gibson County and Evansville Home Builders Associations, Most important to Larry were his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, frying turkeys, Nascar, and his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. His sense of humor, generosity, and love of life were present in all he did.

 

Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by his brother William Elpers in 1999.

 

Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Susie (Conen) Elpers, 2 daughters and their spouses, Tara (Wayne) Reinbrecht of Haubstadt, IN, Ranell (Brian) Rexing of Fort Branch, IN, 6 brothers and sisters, Donald Elpers of, Hudson, FL, James Elpers of Poseyville, IN, Ruth Goff of Poseyville, IN, Betty Cox of Evansville, IN, Charlie Elpers of Homassassa FL., and Joleen Elpers of Mt. Vernon, IN. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Collin, Hannah, and Ethan Reinbrecht, Blair, Mylie, and Aleah Rexing, and his mother in-law Eloise Conen of Haubstadt, IN.

 

A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. at the Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN, Fathers Tony Ernst and Gary Kaiser will be the celebrants. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home Located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, and on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the church. A Rosary will be conducted by the church parish on Monday evening at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
