Gyneth M. (Byers) Heldt, 73, of Fort Branch, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 24th at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

 

She was born to the late Marshall and Golda (Ellis) Mayfield on September 3, 1930 in Oakland City, IN.

 

Gyneth belonged to the Fort Branch General Baptist Church, where she participated in it’s many activities, such as the Guild Girls, The XYZ’s, the Victors Class, the Ladies Aid, and the Koinonia Women’s Missionary Group. She was retired from Potter and Brumfield after 30 years of service.

 

Besides her parents, Gyneth is also preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Byers in 1997, a son, James Alan Byers in 1980, 2 brothers, Marvin L. Mayfield in 1992 and George F. Mayfield in 1967.

 

She is survived by her 2nd husband Carol Heldt, 2 children and their spouses, Barbara and Steve Seitz of Jasper, IN, and Larry and Gretchen Byers of Evansville, IN. She has 5 step children, Carol Ann Blaine of Ft. Branch, IN, Jerry Heldt of Francisco, IN, Mark Heldt of Haubstadt, IN, Glen Heldt of Winslow, IN, and Tammy Scheller of Ft. Branch, IN . Also surviving are 3 randchildren, Carrie Oakman, Andrew Byers, and Julie Taylor, 14 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.

 

Services for Gyneth will be on Saturday, November 29th, at 10:00 A.M. at the Fort Branch General Baptist Church, Reverend Steve Seitz will officiate, burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Ft. Branch, IN.

 

Friends may call for visitation on Friday November 28th from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Ft. Branch and again from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the church.
