William G. Shelton, 73, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, IN.

 

He was born to the late Cecil and Rissie (Proffitt) Shelton on June 8, 1930 in Oak Hill KY.

 

William is retired from the Evansville Courier after 28 yrs. He was a member of the St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Warrenton, a U.S Army Korean War Veteran, a member of N.R.A and an avid Fisherman and Hunter.

 

Besides his parents, William is preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Phelps; and a sister, Dorothy Neilson.

 

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Pat (Slade) Shelton of Haubstadt, IN; children, Roddie Shelton of Philpot, KY, Eddie Shelton of Maceo, KY; son-in-law, Kenny Phelps of Owensboro KY; stepchildren, Mike and Janet Clutter of Oakland City, IN, Jerry and Anna Clutter of Princeton, IN and Melanie and Jim Dougan of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Shawn and Shelly Phelps, Lee, Jason, Daniel, David, Matthew Shelton; great-granddaughter, Maci Lane Morris; step grandchildren, Amanda, Laura, Jason, Jerrod, Heather, John, Elizabeth Clutter, Jamie and Breana Spradley; brothers, Billy Shelton of Winslow IN, Tony Shelton of Evansville, IN; a sister, Delores Gelinas of Avon, IN; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday December 23rd from 3 to 8 pm at the Stodghill Funeral Home and services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday December 24th at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN, with the Rev. Steven Oeth officiating. Burial will be in the St. Stephens Cemetery.
