Joseph W. Stone, 89 of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 25th, 2006.

 

Joe was born to the late Luther and Hazel (Warren) Stone in Fort Branch, IN on June 12th, 1917.

 

Joe was a World War II Army veteran. He served 3 years in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He retired from Emge Meat Packing Co. after 33 years of service, where he worked in the maintenance dept. Joe and his late wife Juanita owned the Buggy Shed Antique Shop for 16 years. He was a true craftsman at repairing and refurnishing furniture. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #2714 in Fort Branch, where he served as Post Commander from 1987-1988 and again in 1994-1995. Joe was also a member of the Fort Branch Masonic Lodge F&AM #696. He was a member of the Fort Branch First Presbyterian Church.

 

Besides his parents Joe is preceded in death by his wife Juanita (Sevier) Stone in March of 2004; a brother, Lawrence; a step-son-in-law, Robert L. Burger; and a grand daughter, Susan Willis.

 

He is survived by a step-daughter, Sabra Jeanette Burger of Evansville, IN; a brother, James W. Stone and his wife Ruth of Fort Branch, IN; a grandson, Gregory Burger and his wife, Donna of Fort Branch, IN; 3 great grand children, Sara Blandford of Owensboro, KY, Nathan Burger and his wife Erin of Princeton, IN, and Christine Burger of Fort Branch, IN; along with nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 1st, 2005 at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN with the Reverend Tarrell Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, IN, where military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 2714.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, June 30th, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
