Sandra "Sandy" Kay Weiss passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

 

She was born September 15, 1951 in Evansville, IN.

 

Preceding her in death are her son, Ryan E. Weiss; her mother, Leola Rogers; and father James E. Rogers.

 

Sandy was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ in Cynthiana where she served as the church moderator.

 

Surviving her was her husband, Leo "Rick" Weiss of 36 years; three children, Stephanie Knight-Butler (Shawn) of Ft. Branch, Kevin Weiss of Evansville, and Heather (Mark) Anslinger of Haubstadt; five grandsons, Logan Knight, Landon Knight, Dakota Weiss, Brennon Knight, and Camden Anslinger; one granddaughter, Shaylon Butler; brothers and sisters, Robert "Bob" Rogers of Evansville, Nancy (Donnie) Hirsch of Haubstadt, Pam (Brian) Junker of Haubstadt, Ted Rogers of Evansville, and Patsy (Don) Tooley of Evansville; step-mother, Ruth Rogers of Cynthiana.

 

To all who knew her she was a very kind, loving and nurturing woman. Her lifelong love and passion was without question children. For 33 years she ran a home daycare in which she provided a warm loving environment. At home or even out and about she had this indescribable spirit that seemed to draw children near. They would flock to her always to find her arms wide open for a hug or a lap to rest while they were being read a book. To her every child she cared for was very special her. Always more like her own grandchildren. Other interests she enjoy was attending her grandsons many sporting events and activities. Another life hobby she enjoyed was with her daughter Heather. They created many memories together with their hobby of training and showing horses. Over the years she touched many people’s hearts with her loving personality. Their were also many family and friends that were very special to her. One person in her life that brought much love and support was Dana Farmer of Haubstadt, IN.

 

Services for Sandy will be on Tuesday Nov. 20, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Church of Christ in Cynthiana, IN.

 

Visitation will be held at Stodghil Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN. on Monday, Nov. 19 from 4-8 and from 10-11 prior to the services at United Church of Christ in Cynthiana, IN. Burial will immediately follow at the Liberty Cemetery also in Cynthiana, IN.
