Hazel (Garrison) Bixler, 98, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at Transcendent Healthcare in Owensville.

Born March 14, 1911, she was the daughter of Nancy (Hubble) and Harley Garrison.

She attended Indiana State University and later taught music and home economics at Cynthiana High School. While residing in Evansville with her husband, she enjoyed traveling, mostly to the Gulf region of Alabama and Mississippi. She was a Protestant and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a cousin, Hilda (Paul) Edwards of Cynthiana; and nephew, Larry Martin of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert E. Bixler on July 5, 1996; and brother, Bob Garrison in 1982.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Werry Funeral Home, Cynthiana Chapel with the Rev. John Matsel officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Cynthiana.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
