John William Houchins, 74, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He was born in
Princeton, Jan. 20, 1935 to Paul and Myrtle (Golden) Houchins. John worked at H.P. Smith Manufacturing in Chicago for 13 years. He returned to Princeton in 1969 and was employed at Whirlpool Corp. until his retirement in 1997. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 1131 both in Princeton.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary (Hladik) Houchins; daughter, Antonette Healy and son-in-law, Mark Healy; grandson, Charles “Charlie” John Riley Harris all of Morganfield, Ky.; brother, L.P. “Bud” (Mary Esther) Houchins of Oakland City; sisters, Barbara (Royce) Houchin of Oakland City; Rebecca Lemmons of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ann Roberson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at
11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Ronald Zgunda the celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton.

Visitation will be from
4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.

A Christian prayer service will be at
8 p.m. Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home.
