Mabel E. Morris, 98, of Mount Carmel, Ill., passed away Tuesday May 12, 2009 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab in Mount Carmel.

Born
Dec. 3, 1910 in Gibson County, she was the daughter of Eugene E. and Anna (Stewart) Knight.

She married Robert A. Morris on
Nov. 16, 1933 in Albion, Ill.

She was a member of the
First General Baptist Church in Mount Carmel where she served as church pianist and was a charter member of the Missionary Society. She graduated from Oakland City College and began her teaching career in East Mount Carmel and she taught for 28 years in Wabash Community School District 348. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine, the Illinois Retired Teachers and the Wabash Career Women.

Survivors include a son, Wayne K. Morris of Mount Carmel; sister, Edna McClellan; sister-in-laws, Grace Knight, Ruth Garrett; nephews, Eugene Phillips, George McClellan, Mitchell McClellan; nieces, Ann Tennes, Gladys Sloan, Gail McClellan, Maria McClellan; grand-nephews, Robert Knight, Mark Tennes; grand-niece, Susan Knight; beloved great-grand-niece, Amelia Grace Tennes, great-grand-nephew, Christopher Knight; and special caregivers, Carolyn Tanner and Ana Shelby.

She was preceded her in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1991; infant son, Robert Austin Morris, Jr.; brother, Roy E. Knight; sister, Pearl Phillips; and special nephew, Richard E. Knight.

Funeral services will be at
10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Short Funeral Home in Mount Carmel, Ill. with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
