Leo C. McDowell, 91, formerly of Oakland City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.

Born Aug. 14, 1919 in Oakland City, he was the son of Gilvie and Myrtle (Thompson) McDowell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores June on Feb. 23, 1993; sisters, Eva Louise Sisson,Wilma Jean Daughtry; brother, James McDowell and a grandson. He was a long time farmer and worked at Oakland City Plastic Plant; he retired from Hansen Corp.

He moved to Bloomington/Indianapolis where he spent the last five years of his life.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Mike) Linxwiller of Bloomington; son, Michael McDowell of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Forsythe Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour  on Friday at the chapel.
