Glenn Allen Williams, 93, of Princeton, passed away Sunday Jan. 16, 2011 at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton

He was born July 8, 1917 in Marion, County, Ill., the son of Edgar Allen and Eliza Jane (Andereck) Williams.

He graduated from Sandoval High School in Sandoval, Ill. in 1936. As an Army Ranger in W.W. II, he was held prisoner of war in Italy for approximately one year. Glenn earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his service.

Glenn retired from Ashland Oil Co. after more than 40 years of employment.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Sandoval for more than 50 years. Glenn was also a member of the Francisco Lions Club for more than 40 years where he served a term as president of that organization.  Glenn was very active in the Francisco Little League in the 1960s.  He recently became the oldest and longest continuing member of the Princeton Fitness Center.  He enjoyed reading, gardening and going to breakfast with friends.

 He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Mae (Joyce) Williams of Princeton; daughter, Glenda (Thomas) Skinner of Gallipolis, Ohio; a son, Michael (Betty) Williams of Princeton; brother, Merle Williams of Mt. Vernon, Ill; three grandchildren, Carolyn (Dan Keller) Skinner of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Bethany Skinner of Indianapolis, Allen Skinner of Saint Kitts, West Indies; a niece; and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Hazel Mason. Funeral services will at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Allan Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Francisco.
