Joy August Yeager, 79, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center


Joy was born in
Owensville, Ind., on August 16, 1931.

 

He graduated from Oakland City University and received his Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University.  Joy taught at West Heights Elementary School, then worked at Highland Elementary as a counselor. Joy became principal at Columbia Elementary and later Vogel Elementary, where he stayed until his retirement. Joy was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Christian Fellowship Church. He was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, past Master Mason and Hadi Shriner


Joy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma F. Yeager, of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Sherri Beaman and her husband, Barry, of Evansville, Ind.; son, Bob Yeager and his wife, Ruth, of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Allison Jarausch and her husband, Jamie, Amanda Beaman and her fiancé, Matt Keil, Rick Yeager; and aunt, Irene Clingenpeel. Joy is also survived by his brother-in-law, Kenneth Wilson Sr., of
Newburgh, Ind.; one niece; and two nephews. 


Joy is preceded in death by his parents, Walter F. and Blanche (Crumbacher) Yeager; and sister-in-law, Mildred Wilson. 


Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with Rev. Mike Deeg officiating. Burial will be held at
Clark Cemetery, in Owensville, Ind. 


Friends may visit from 2 until
8 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home.
