Larry J. Clem, 70, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville

He was born July 7, 1940 in Princeton to Warner E. and Rosemary (Lehman) Clem. He was a lifetime resident of Gibson County.  He was a graduate of Mt. Olympus High School in 1958 and was senior class president and then attended Purdue University.  He was retired from farming and the Gibson County Highway Dept. where he worked for 20 years. 

He was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church since 1954 and served as an elder, trustee and Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of Prince Masonic Lodge 231 in Princeton, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville, Hadi Shrine Temple since May 6, 1972, where he served as the Potentate’s Aid for several years and was Chief Aid in 1990, past president of Gibson County Shrine Club where he served as president in 1980, was the Chair of the Elephant Ride for 25 years at the Hadi Shrine Circus, Hillbilly Clan No. 52 and Sword of Bunker Hill No. 82.

 Survivors include his wife of 47 1/2 years, Nancy (Kirk) Clem; a son, Jay (Chris) Clem of Cynthiana; a daughter, Jana Irwin of McLeansboro, Ill.; two grandsons, Zachary and Dustin Clem; his mother, Rosemary (Lehman) Clem of Francisco; a brother, Darwin (Sue) Clem of Richwood, Ohio; and a sister, Marilyn (Glenn) Young of Princeton.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Warner E. Clem.

 Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at Fairview Presbyterian Church east of Princeton, with the Rev. Jerry Wibert officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 4–8 p.m. Friday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and then from 9 -10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

 There will be a Shrine walk through prior to the Masonic Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
