Lavada L. Mallory, 67, Oakland City, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at her home.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., March 1, 1943, daughter of Hubert and Vivian (Williams) Barrett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Marvin Mallory, in 1988; a brother, Russell Barrett; sons David Mallory and Earl Thomas Barrett; and two grandchildren.

Surviving are daughters Lawana (George) Birdsell of Petersburg and Susie (Buddy) Adkins of Oakland City; sons Marvin (Jennifer), Michael and Ronald A. Mallory, all of Oakland City; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters Roberta Willis of Princeton and Rachel Nance of Oakland City; brothers Hubert Barrett of Winslow and Darvin Norrington of Huntingburg; and her step-father, Earl Norrington of Oakland City.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with burial in Somerville Cemetery, Revs. Jason Clark and George Bruce officiating. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until the hour of service Friday.
