George J. Hartley, 86, of Princeton,  passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at home in Princeton.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1924 in Patoka to George D. and Ina (Boyle) Hartley. 

He was a self-employed building contractor.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, earning two purple hearts and two bronze stars. He was also a charter member and past commander of VFW Post 1147.

 He is survived by his four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary (Pranee) Hartley of North Las Vegas, Nev., David (Joyce) Hartley of Princeton, George R. (Marta) Hartley of Petersburg, Jim D. Hartley of Estill, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Christian Hartley, Rachel Lopez, George P. Hartley, Joshua Hartley, Shayna Smith, Tasha Adams, Jerriahmy (Stacy) Hartley, Doreen Ahia, Angie Hallock; and 11 great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia in 2004; and three brothers, William, Haskell and Robert Hartley.

 Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Gary Arnold officiating.  Burial will be at the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW 1147.

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour on Wednesday at the funeral home.
