Carl Thomas Heck, Sr., 80, of Oakland City, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Good Samaritan Home. 

Born Dec. 19, 1930, he was the son of Charles and Laura (Briody) Heck.

Carl was an avid outdoors man. He loved hunting, fishing, mowing, gardening and barbequing. He worked for the Pike County ARC and was diligent about keeping the earth in good form for the next generation. A favorite past time was to drive through the state forest looking for deer and other wildlife.

Carl was a member of the Winslow Eagles. He most recently resided with his wife at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City. Carl was always the first person in the room setting up for church services at the nursing home.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Killion) Heck, married for 60 years on Feb. 10, 2011; his children, Karen Lustman of San Clemente, Calif.; Carl Heck, Jr. of Oceanside, Calif.; Roger Heck of Winslow, Allen Heck, Henderson, Ky., Michael Heck of Evansville, Ronald Heck of Evansville; brother, Richard Heck of Evansville; sister, Janis Heck of Detroit, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grand children.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka, with Kenneth Thomas officiating.  There will be no visitation. Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Volkman Chapel, (812) 983-4211 is handling arrangements.
