Spicy M. Johnson, 96, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at her brother’s home in Owensville.

Born June 12, 1914, she was the daughter Jesse and Eunice (Keneipp) Montgomery.

She lived her entire life in Owensville with the exception of the last four years in Terre Haute with her daughter.

 She was a longtime active member of Owensville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Guild. She was a graduate of Owensville High School and the Gibson Girls Home Ec Club. Spicy will always be remembered as a great cook, a faithful member and a good quilter in the guild with a winsome smile and personality.

 Survivors include daughters, Ella (Jim) Mars of Terre Haute, Diane (Mark) Wright of Monroe, N.C.; sons, Weldin (Jane) Johnson of Jenison Mich., Robert Michael Johnson of Strafford, Mo.; a sister, Kitty Tomlinson of Terre Haute; a brother, Charles Montgomery of Owensville; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Lexington Johnson in 2009; a sister, Alice Garrett; a brother, Philip Montgomery; one grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

 Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville, with the Rev. Linda Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the Benson Cemetery.

 Visitation will be held for 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
