Darwin E. Callis, 78, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at home.

Born Feb. 17, 1933 in Gibson County, he was the son of Revis and Cletus (Garrett) Callis.

Darwin was a graduate of the Owensville High School Class of 1951, served in the United States Navy, was a life long farmer, active member of the Owensville United Methodist Church, chairman of the Win Energy R.E.M.C. board, Gibson County Community Corrections board member as well as very active within and around the Owensville community.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Peggy (Keneipp) Callis; son, Eric Callis of Owensville; daughter, Jean Ann (Alan) Pfisterer of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Nathan and Kelsey Edwards, Sam and Griffin Pfisterer; a sister, Mary Jane (Don) Bellessa of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; sister-in-law, Liz Ann Knox of Newburgh; brother-in-law, Dick (Mary) Keneipp of Owensville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with the Rev. Linda Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the David B. Smith Cemetery in Owensville.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
