Betty M. Godfrey, 84, of Princeton, formerly of Stone Mountain, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.

She was born Sept. 26, 1926 in Atlanta, Ga. to James L. and Martha Lee (Pope) McArthur, both deceased. 

She was a charter member of the White Oak Hills Baptist Church in Decatur, Ga.  Betty retired from the IRS and also worked for the Georgia State Patrol as a private secretary.

 She is survived by her children, Michael L. (Jan) Godfrey of Cumming, Ga., Betty A. Godfrey Hames of Snellville, Ga., Catherine (Tim) Darnell of Princeton, Stephen F. Godfrey of Stone Mountain, Ga.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Laura Womack of Flowery Branch, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Godfrey in 1989; a brother, James L. McArthur Jr.;and a sister, Lewise Newman.

 Visitation will be at noon until 2 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Ga. followed by a graveside service at Coal Mountain Cemetery in Coal Mountain, Ga.

 Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton is handling local arrangements.
