Francis Asbury Ferry, 80, of Oakland City, passed away Thursday May 26, 2011 at home.

Born Feb.1, 1931 in Gibson County, he was the son of Francis and Dorothy (Deal) Ferry.

He was a United States Marine and served in the Korean War from 1950-53, and also was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Mackey. He was a lay minister in the community and member of VFW Post 2714 in Fort Branch, American Legion Post 0777 in Indianapolis. He was also retired from Faultless Caster after 49 years as an electrician.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Florence (Brooks) Ferry; daughters,  Betsy Travelstead of Oakland City, Emma (David) Kincaid of Evansville, Wanda (Matthew) Mativa of Hagerstown, Md., Betsy Verna (Mark) Wheatley of New Palestine, Judy (Darin) Richardson of Winslow, Gloria (Ken) Goodwin of Greenfield,  Cecilia (Wayne) Moody of Springfield, Mo.; brother: John (Vada) Ferry of Oakland City; sisters, Cyetta Green of Boonville, Naomi Lloyd of Missouri, Margaret Boyer of Terre Haute, Elizabeth (Alvin) Rostron of Haubstadt, Lavada (Gary) Menke of Elberfeld, Carolyn (Davey) Wright of Oakland City; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Albright Cemetery near Mackey, with the Rev. Matt Malin officiating.

He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.
