Bessie Miller, 94, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Transcendent Healthcare of Owensville.

She was born Dec. 28, 1913 in Ellis County, Texas.

Bessie resided in Mt. Carmel, Ill. from the 1940s through the 1980s. She worked as a secretary to Robert Orr, school superintendent and as a secretary at North Elementary School.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

In the 1990s, she moved to an apartment in Princeton. She worked at the General Baptist Church of Princeton, of which she was a member.

One of her greatest pleasures was socializing at the Senior Citizens Center.

 She is survived by her sons, Gordon Miller of Kihei, Hawaii Steve Miller of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Peggy (Marvin) Adams of Owensville;   a sister, Viola Castro of Texarkana, Texas; a sister-in-law, Frankie Miller of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Miller; a granddaughter, Cindy Miller; daughter-in-law, Barbara Miller; and great-grandson, Brian Bostick.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel with Rev. John Stept officiating.
