Margaret Louise (Waters) Brown, 86, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at her home.

She was born Jan. 29, 1925 in Gibson County, the daughter of Walter "Bob" and Katie Maude (Manning) Waters.

Margaret was a member of the Owensville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Red Hat Society, past president of the Rebekahs, the Elberfeld American Legion Auxiliary and past president of the now-disbanded American Legion Auxiliary of Owensville, a graduate of Owensville High School class of 1943, and worked for South Gibson School Corp. as a custodian and cook at Owensville.

Margaret married the love of her life, Cecil L. Brown, on Aug. 7, 1947.

Survivors include daughters, Jane (Larry) Wira of Elberfeld, Cecilia Ann Hill of Princeton and Lorilee Wyatt of Boonville; sons, Thom (Terri) E. Brown of Vienna, Ill., and Daniel B. Brown of Macon, Ill.; step-son, Don (Cheryl) Brown of Princeton; grandchildren, Gregg (Chrissy) Brown of Clearwater, Fla., Shane (Tina) Brown of Decatur, Ill., Ryan Brown of Bridgeport, Ill., Devin (Cara) Brown, Carbondale, Ill., Matthew Abell of Washington, Liana Abell of Princeton, Patrick Hill of Princeton,Tyler Wyatt of Boonville, Dustin (Jamie) Brown of Warrensburg, Ill., Katie Brown of Decatur, Ill., Larry Wira Jr. of Boonville, Scot Wira of Lynnville, Deana Elaman of Deer River, Minn.; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil L. Brown in 1978, and son, Walter Robert Brown in 2007; grandsons, Justin and Jordan Brown; brothers, Mack, Bob and Dan Waters; sister Emma Frances Douglas Flener.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Rev. Robert Kloepting and Rev. Bill Ping officiating. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Owensville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
