Aaron R. Mason, Jr., D. O., 75, a resident of Boerne, TX since 1971, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011. 

Born April 28, 1936 in Pike County, he was the son of Aaron R. Mason, Sr. and Elsie Aline McCrary Mason.

He graduated from the Oakland City College in 1963. A graduate of the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1966, he opened his practice in Windsor, MO. Moving to Boerne from Windsor, he “hung up his shingle” in Boerne, retiring in 2000. 

An avid artifact collector, he especially enjoyed digging for arrowheads. He was also a lover of nature and animals.  

Dr. Mason is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janis Mason; children, Tim Mason and wife Peggy, Kim Cardenas, and Sim Mason and his wife, Dena;  grandchildren,  Brandon Cardenas, Jacqueline Cardenas, Bradley Cardenas, and Kaylee Myers;  uncle, Eldon McCrary; aunt, Georgia Mason; cousins, Ivan, Jr., Shirley, Linda, and Gloria; as well as numerous other cousins. 

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011 at Vaughan’s Funeral Home, with David Vaughan, officiating.
