Elizabeth “Ernie” Sanders, 88, of Patoka, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Gibson General Hospital, in Princeton.

Born Oct. 31, 1922, in Pike County , she was the daugther of Roy and Orpha May (White) Whitehouse.

She is a retired machine operator with the Hansen Corp. in Princeton. In October of 1948,  she was married to Henry B. Sanders. She was an avid quilter, a seamstress and was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Mt. Olympus.

Survivors include a son, Jack (Sara ) Snyder of Patoka; brother, Bob David Whitehouse of Francisco; sister, Ruby  Hutchinson of Cynthiana; grandchildren, Brad (Jana) Snyder of Patoka, Shannon (Mike) Wenzel of Princeton, Kristina (Kevin) James of Bellmont, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Jaysa and Bram Snyder and Jackson and Josie James; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents;  husband Henry B. Sanders in October 1980; brothers, Jackie, Pete and Joe Whitehouse; and sisters, Ruth Street and Francis Wilson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday July 11, 2011 at Doyle Funeral Home, 520 S. Main St. in Princeton with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
