Hallard Abbott, Jr., 81, passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

Junior was born on March 8, 1930 in Oakland City.  He lived in Gibson County all of his lifetime, Oakland City being his hometown.

 He worked in construction for many years and was an avid Indiana State Univ. basketball fan.  He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his moped and enjoying his friends and good times at the Fast Break in Ft. Branch.

 Junior is survived by his daughter, Katrina Meadors of Petersburg; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Jack (Mary) Abbott of Oakland City; sister, Lucille McKinney of Haubstadt; numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Hallard Abbott and May E. (Shultz) Abbott Blythe; 3 brothers, Ancil, Herschel and Garrett Abbott; and 5 sisters, Ailene Meier, Ruth Ferguson, Christine Lane, Thelma Fetterman and Ellen White.

 Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Pastor Lisa Resler.  Burial will be at the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.  Visitation will be from 4 until 7 PM on Friday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
