Kenneth E. Garrett, 92, formerly of Owensville, Princeton and Evansville, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2011.

Born Sept. 26, 1918 in Griffin, he was the son of Paul L. and Muriel (Goodwin) Garrett.

On Aug. 11, 1937, he married Sarah Evelyn Westfall.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a torpedo-man’s mate third class. He served aboard the USS Robinson in the Pacific Fleet.

He retired in 1984 from Arrowhead Products Corp. in California.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry R. (Carol) Garrett of Fort Branch, William (Diane) Garrett of Corona, Calif.; a daughter, Janet S. (Billy) Mason of San Jacinto, Calif.; two sisters, Peggy Ann (Kenneth) Dillon of Owensville and Phyllis (Allen) Moffett of Clearwater, Fla.; five granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; two step-granddaughters; four step-great grandchildren; two step great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah Evelyn, a son, James L. Garrett in May 1996; brothers, Denzil, Chester and Eugene Garrett; and sisters, Helen Wilson, Edna Twigg, Mary an infant; and one grandson.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Navy and VFW Honor Guard. Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory of Moreno Valley, Calif. handled arrangements.
