Rev. Jesse H. Jackson, 82, of Owensville, went to be with the Lord Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.

Born Feb. 22, 1939 in Carlisle, he was the son of Albert and Ida Mae (Riggle) Jackson.

He grew up in Bicknell. He served in the U.S. Navy at Patuxent River Naval Air Warfare Center, on the Chesapeake Bay, from 1948-50. He married June 26, 1954 to Vivian (Louks) Jackson.

He attended Frankfort Pilgrim College and was ordained by the Wesleyan Church in 1962.

 Rev. Jackson began his ministerial work in Lafayette at the Schylar Avenue Wesleyan Church in 1956.  He continued to serve the Lord by pastoring Wesleyan churches in the following Indiana communities:  Beaver Creek, Warsaw, Fountain City, Fort Wayne, Westfield, Kokomo, Elwood and Kirklin.  He retired from the ministry in July 1995 and resided in Thorntown until moving to Owensville in 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; four daughters, Joyce Harris of Thorntown, Sharon (Paul) Bankert of Zionsville, Margaret (Dave) Miller of Owensville, Donna (Scott) Imel of Anderson; a sister, Inez (Jackson) Morgan of Plainfield; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; and eight sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at Kirklin Wesleyan Church in Kirklin. Burial will be in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery in Bicknell.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St. in Sheridan.
