Delbert L. Jones, 81 passed away Thursday Aug.11, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He was born May 1, 1930 in Princeton to Edward and Blanche Mae (Nolcox) Jones. 

He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 181 where he worked for 46 years.

He lived in Princeton all of his life. He was a member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in Lyles Station. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching auto racing and other sports. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Alma (Hardiman) Jones of  Princeton; three daughters, Carol Jones Montague of Newburgh, Brenda Jones Hardiman of Evansville, Sonya Jones Pritchett of Princeton; two sons, Bryan Jones of New Richmond, Wis., Brent Jones of Princeton; sister, Elsie Goins-Morse of Evansville; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Gwendolyn Jones Bright in 1972.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 17, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Allen McClendon officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Princeton

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home.
