Chester D. Kolb, 100, passed away Thursday Aug. 11, 2011 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.

He was born May 14, 1911 in Patoka to Joseph and Margaret (Phillips) Kolb.

He lived in the rural Patoka area all of his life. He was a teacher and a farmer, teaching for 35 years, 21 years at Baldwin Heights School.  He attended the Oasis Assembly of God Church, served on the RE.M.C. Board of Directors for several years and served on the Decker Cemetery Board for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Hazel Kolb; son and daughter-in law, Frank and Adele Kolb of Petersburg; a granddaughter, Terri (Jeff) Sullivan of Union; one great granddaughter, Marissa Breidenbaugh; one great-great granddaughter, Heidi Breidenbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Alan Kolb; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday Aug. 14, 2011 at  Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Mike Marsh officiating.  Burial will followed the Decker Cemetery in rural Patoka.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home.
