C. Oda Krieg, 96, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011 at River Oaks Health Campus, Princeton.

 Born Jan. 9, 1915 in Sikeston, Mo. he was the son of George and Martha (Schnelle) Krieg.

He married Edna Cummins on Jan. 14, 1939 in Princeton.

Oda was a kind man that loved his family. He was a farmer with great respect for the land. He farmed more than ? years in Gibson County. He enjoyed music, dancing and traveling. His family and friends will miss him.

He is survived by his son-in-law, Nick (Dee) Peters of Mt. Carmel; grandson, Ron (Deanna) Peters of Mt. Carmel;  and several nieces and nephews, George (Brenda) Krieg of Ft. Branch, Fred Krieg of Kernersville, NC, Lois Tormolen of Overland Park, Kan. and Jim Wells of Carriere, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; parents George and Martha Krieg; daughter, Betty Nell Krieg Peters; brothers, Oscar, Clarence, John, and Raymond Krieg; and sisters, Theresa Lane, Viola Case, Maggie Hensley and Ann Wells.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 at the chapel of Short Funeral Home with burial to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
