Billy “Slick” Vickers, 83, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City

He was born April 15, 1928 in Francisco to John A. and Mary Jane (Lewis) Vickers. 

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War and was a life member of VFW Post 1147 in Princeton.  He was a truck driver for many years.

He is survived by two step-children, Jerry (Barbara) McKannan and Larry (Sue) McKannan both of Francisco; a sister, Wanda of Bradenton, Wis; three brothers, Jack of Francisco, John of Warrenton and Larry of Mt. Carmel; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a special friend of 43 years, Dorothy McKannan in 1997; a brother, Lewis; two sisters, Joanne and Kate; and two step-children, Ray and Faye McKannan.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at the Francisco Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Robin Fortner officiating. Burial will follow the service. VFW Post 1147 will provide full military rites at the cemetery. 

Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for services.  Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton is handling the arrangements.
