Joseph “Joe” Cargal, Jr., 72, of Patoka passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.

He was born on November 24, 1938 in Bicknell to Joseph Cargal Sr and Odyne (Noland) Cargal

He lived in Gibson County since 1972 coming from Bicknell.  He worked in mining and construction, last working at ARC Construction.  He attended Bethel Memorial Church.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force.  In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting.  He also enjoyed his grandchildren and their sporting events.

 He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cargal of Patoka; son, Joseph Cargal III of Oakland City; daughter, Melody (Ron) Miller of Hazleton; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Cargal, Joseph (Megan) Cargal IV, Chelsea and Braelyn Cargal, Nick (Amy) Miller, Erin (Alex) Williams, Karis and Luke Miller; five great grandchildren, Joseph Cargal V, Leyla Cargal, Maddie Jo Hartley, Peyton and Nash Miller.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Cargal; brothers, Robert and William Scott; and a sister, Sue (Cargal) Hulen.

 Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilson.  Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
