Faye Louise Schmits, 96, passed away Monday Sept.12, 2011 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Sept. 12, 1915 in Princeton, to Fred and Helen (Jones) Finney. 

She was a homemaker and had lived in Princeton most of her life.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Daughter of Isabelle Circle 157, where she was a member for over 50 years.  She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, watching I.U. basketball, the Chicago Cubs and of course a fan of all of her children as well.

She is survived by five sons, Fred (Sandy) Schmits, of Aurora, Ind., Don (JoAnn) Schmits, Shiloh, of Ill., Larry (Judy) Schmits, of Fishers, Ind., Joe (Sandy) Schmits, of Princeton, Geff Schmits, Melbourne, Fla.; eight daughters, Mary Lou (Mike) McEllhiney, of Princeton, Sara Spurgeon, of Bloomington, Alice (Bob) McAuley, of Bloomington, Judy Wiggins, of Terra Haute,  Helen (Kevin) Fuhs, of Haubstadt, Barb (Larry) Halwes, of Princeton, Patty Cummins, of  Evansville, Carol Land, of Princeton; a brother, James (Billie Lou) Moore, of Dade City, Fla.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lemmons, of Haubstadt; 26 grandchildren; and 48 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Schmits in June 2005; daughter-in-law, Peggy Schmits;  granddaughter, Rachel Cummins; sister, Marjorie Keith;  and sisters-in-law, Catherine Childers and Helen Boske.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m Thursday Sept. 15, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, with Father Ronald Zgunda officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, where the Daughters of Isabella will pray a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
