June Allene (Wirey) Patterson, 91, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton, where she was affectionately known as "June Bug."

 

She was born June 15, 1920, in Lawrenceville, Ill., to Mary E. Wirey. She grew up in the Mt. Olympus area and graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1937 and resided in Princeton since 1938.

 

June was a homemaker who loved bingo, fishing, playing canasta, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.

 

She attended Bethel Memorial Church in Princeton.

 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Judy Patterson of Wingo, Ky.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Irvin Spindler of Princeton and Donna and Alan Stuckey of Princeton; six grandchildren, Stacy Patterson of Princeton, Sherri (Brian) Mason of Sebring, Fla., Rachel (James) Myers of Kirkwood, Mo., Tiffany (Mark) Johnson of Chesterfield, Mo., Ryan Spindler of Princeton, and Marcus Stuckey of Hollywood, Ca.; five great grandchildren, Justin Boner, Faith Stone, Andrew and Elizabeth Myers, and Alexis June Johnson; special nieces and nephews; special cousin, Esther Mae Kester; and special friends, Margaret, Elaine and Ruby.

 

June was preceded in death by her mother; her husband of 59 years, Herbert, in 2004; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Norma Wirey and Melvin and Olive Wirey.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating.

 

Burial will be at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at Colvin Funeral Home.
