Robert L. Simpson, 83, Owensville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

 

Bob was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Owensville, the son of Lawrence Oscar and Clara Jane (Brumfield) Simpson.

 

He lived in Owensville his entire life. He was a graduate of Owensville High School Class of 1945, was a dairy farmer and retired as manager from Wilbert Burial Vault of Fort Branch. He was a member of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he served in many capacities, including deacon and elder. He was also a member of the Indiana National Guard.

 

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Violet (Mowrer) Simpson; sons Barry (Christy) and Denny (Diana) Simpson; and a granddaughter, Emily Simpson.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorotha (Yeager) Bosse, Lourie (Simpson) Smith Delay and Mareta (Simpson) Newton; brothers Loral Simpson, Gerald Luther Yeager and Charles Wayne Yeager.

 

Services are Monday at 10 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville, with the Rev. Bob Hicks and Rev. Doris Beckerman officiating. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery.

 

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
