Edythe Mae Owens Clarke, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at 10:40 a.m. in the Davis Gardens at Westminster Village, Terre Haute, where she had been a patient for three years.

 

She was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Princeton, daughter of James and Bertha (Manning) Owens.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Monroe Clarke, and brothers Emory and Fred Owens.

 

Surviving are a sister, Heloise Lueckel of Frostproof, Fla.; a brother, Roy (Evelyn) Owens of Princeton; several nieces and a nephew and their families.

 

She enjoyed babysitting during high school years and worked with her husband as house parents for young boys. She also worked for the U.S. government as a clerk typist and payroll clerk.

 

She collected dolls, many leather-bound books and music records.

 

There will be no visitation, nor memorial service. She will be buried at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Va., beside her husband.
