Helen W. Couts, 105, of Evansville passed away at 7:45 pm, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Atria Assisted Living.

Helen was born October 21, 1906 in Oakland City, Indiana the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Rough) Grubb and was a graduate of Oakland City College, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a member of Oakland City First General Baptist Church. Helen retired in 1970 from the EVSC after 40 years of teaching Music and English at Cedar Hall. She was a member of Evansville Retired Teachers Association, Federated Liberal Arts Club, Evansville Business and Professional Association, Round Table Garden Club and Daughters of the Nile Isis Temple, Oakland City Chapter.

She is survived by cousin and caregiver, Alex Johnstone of Estero, FL and by a host of friends at the Carousel Restaurant in Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry Couts in 1981.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, IN.
