Lloyd J. Byrns Jr., 85, of Princeton, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh

 

He was born March 10, 1926 in Princeton, to Larkin and Frances (Wadel) Byrns, who preceded him in death.

 

He was a butcher with Swift and Company, retiring - then working at Hansen Corp. as a material handler. 

 

He was married to Mary Pauline (Deal) Byrns, who preceded hin in death in 1981. 

 

He served in WWII with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge of Princeton.

 

He is survived by a son, Allen (Jan) Byrns of Princeton; daughter, Cindy Byrns of Evansville; brother, Jim (Ruthie) Byrns of Princeton; sister, Rosie (Carol) Davis of Owensville.  He is also survived by grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson, Allen Byrns Jr., Toby Byrns, Cody Byrns, Shane Byrns, Jesse Byrns, Robert Wilder and Keisha Williams and special friend, Ernie Angle of Princeton, as well as six great grandchildren.  

 

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Nadine Taylor and Melba Slunder.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at Doyle Funeral Home located at 520 S. Main St., Princeton, with Cody Byrns officiating.  Internment will take place at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson, with V.F.W. Post 1147 conducting graveside military honors.

 

Visitation will be Thursday Jan. 26, 2012 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
