Louise Hinkle Martin, 101, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 4, 2012 at the Lodge of the Wabash.

 

Louise was born Feb. 23, 1910 to William and Dora (Tryon) Hinkle, near Monroe City, the last of six children.

 

She married Squire E. Martin, of the same community. Most of their married life was spent in Gibson County, near Princeton, where Mr. Martin engaged in farming.

 

Converted in early life, she became a member of Reels Chapel Methodist Church, and remained a member of that denomination through life. Her latest church home being The First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, Ill. She spent the last years of her life at The Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes.

 

Surviving is a foster son, Byron Christie, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding Louise in death was her husband on May 16, 1988; her parents, and brothers and sisters.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Rev. Don Fausnaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
