Herbert T. "Herb" Rahman, 87, of Ferdinand, died Thursday, Jan. 19, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

 

He was born October 17, 1924 in Spencer County, to Frank and Christine (Pund) Rahman.

 

He married Mary E. Metzger Sept. 26,1950 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 1997.

 

Herb was a farmer, self-employed cabinetmaker and construction worker. He was a co-founder of Herb Rahman & Sons, Inc.in Ferdinand.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and its St. Joseph's Sodality.

 

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Virginia) Peters of Jasper and Mrs. Alan (Diane) Senninger of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four sons: Stan (Julie) Rahman of Huntingburg, Kenny (Rita)Rahman of Ferdinand, Randy( Julie) Rahman of Hazleton and Mark (Carrie) Rahman of Marengo; one brother, Linus Rahman of Ferdinand; 14 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild.

 

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by infant son Dennis Rahman and two grand-daughters, Rachel and Rebecca Rahman, a brother, Henry Rahman, and sister, Marcella Rahman.

 

Funeral services will be Wednesday Jan. 25 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church at 9 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 6-8:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
